Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded around the same pivotal period he was deeply involved with Miles Davis's legendary sextet, this powerful quartet date demonstrates the alto saxophonist's immense command as a frontman. Supported by the exceptionally driving rhythm section of Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb, his solos are incredibly buoyant, endlessly inventive, and deeply steeped in the blues. The session is a magnificent, highly accessible testament to his status as a giant of the hard bop idiom.
