Album Notes & Community Reviews

Serving as the immediate follow-up to the massively successful 'Mercy, Mercy, Mercy!', this album was similarly recorded before an invited studio audience to recreate an authentic club atmosphere. The set leans heavily into deeply grooving, gospel-inflected compositions, highlighted by Joe Zawinul's sophisticated electric piano work and the leader's incredibly bluesy, joyous alto saxophone solos. It firmly solidified the quintet's status as the reigning architects of highly accessible, commercially dominant soul jazz.
