Album Notes & Community Reviews

Giulini's nine Rossini overtures with the Philharmonia Orchestra, recorded in 1961 and 1965, gather the curtain raisers to 'Il barbiere di Siviglia', 'La gazza ladra', 'La Cenerentola', 'La scala di seta', 'Semiramide' and 'Guillaume Tell'. The album has stayed in the catalog as a standard recommendation, its early stereo sound repeatedly singled out for the quality of its preservation.
