Album Notes & Community Reviews

Completing their stylistic evolution from ferocious powerviolence to atmospheric post-punk, the California quintet delivers an intensely gloomy breakup record. Heavily inspired by the breakup of frontman Ross Farrar's long-term relationship, 'The L-Shaped Man' is dominated by driving, Joy Division-esque basslines and desolate, Ian Curtis-inspired vocal moans. The album is a remarkably cold, depressive, and completely committed aesthetic pivot.
