Album Notes & Community Reviews
Reinterpreting the monumental compositions of Duke Ellington through his distinctive chamber-jazz ensemble, the drummer creates a remarkably fresh, highly nuanced tribute. The intricate arrangements prominently feature the cello and specialized woodwinds, stripping the massive orchestral originals down to delicate, swinging miniatures. It is a profoundly inventive, classically informed homage to a jazz giant.
