The sixth studio album by the Finnish metal icons continues their gradual shift away from neoclassical power metal toward a heavier, groove-oriented thrash approach. Anchored by Alexi Laiho's incredibly technical guitar solos and Janne Wirman's frenetic keyboard playing, the record features noticeably darker lyricism focused on addiction and anger. It achieved immense commercial success, debuting at number 22 on the US Billboard 200.
