Following the dissolution of Throbbing Gristle, Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti pivoted toward rhythm-driven, proto-techno experimentation. 'Trance' heavily utilizes the Roland TR-808, weaving hypnotic, mechanized beats with sinister, disembodied vocals, laying an undeniable foundation for the darkwave and EBM movements.
