Album Notes & Community Reviews

Eager to engage with the burgeoning Bossa Nova craze, veteran saxophonist Coleman Hawkins recorded 'Desafinado' with an ensemble of Latin percussionists. Hawkins's robust, historic swing style contrasts intriguingly with the delicate, syncopated rhythms of Brazilian jazz. It serves as a fascinating example of an older jazz pioneer adapting smoothly to a modern rhythmic trend.
