Album Notes & Community Reviews
Gathering key recordings from his late 1940s repertoire, this compilation demonstrates the bandleader's unyielding commitment to the propulsive, riff-heavy Kansas City aesthetic. The horn sections trade energetic blasts over a famously locked-in rhythm section, designed explicitly to pack dance floors. It marks a transition phase as big bands adapted to post-war commercial realities.
