Album Notes & Community Reviews

Documenting the resurgence of his 'New Testament' band, 'Dance Session' captures the Count Basie Orchestra operating with immense power and impeccable swing. Fueled by the driving rhythm section and brilliant charts from arrangers like Neal Hefti, the ensemble delivers a masterclass in dynamic, blues-drenched big band jazz. The release effectively re-established Basie's dominance in the post-war era.
