Album Notes & Community Reviews
Rising from the ashes of Ume氓 hardcore band Eclipse, the Swedish ensemble's eponymous debut laid the foundational blueprint for their subsequent post-metal dominance. 'Cult of Luna' is heavily anchored in the aggressive, abrasive sludge metal aesthetic of Neurosis, relying on crawling tempos and terrifying vocal shrieks. While lacking the nuanced synthesizers of their later work, its raw intensity showcases a profound command of dynamic tension.
