Promised Heights

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The third and final album of Cymande's original 1970s run expands upon their unique 'Nyah-Rock' blend of Caribbean rhythms, African roots, and British funk. The track 'Brothers on the Slide' became an enduring classic, widely championed by the rare groove movement and heavily sampled by hip-hop artists. The album was primarily celebrated in America, while remaining tragically overlooked in their native UK until decades later.
