Album Notes & Community Reviews

Revisiting an earlier composition through a massive, symphonic lens, this project integrates the famous quartet with sweeping orchestrations composed by the bandleader's brother, Howard Brubeck. The fusion bridges complex, swinging improvisation with grandiose, cinematic string textures inspired by European classical traditions. The album serves as an ambitious, if polarizing, expansion of the group's highly intellectual West Coast aesthetic.
