Album Notes & Community Reviews

Notable for substituting Paul Desmond with clarinetist Bill Smith, 'Brubeck a la Mode' offers a distinct textural departure for the famous quartet. Smith's compositions and fluid, academic playing style push the group toward a slightly more formal, chamber-jazz sensibility while retaining their signature polyrhythmic swing.
