Conceived as a direct thematic successor to 'Time Out', this Columbia Records release further advanced Brubeck's experiments with unconventional polyrhythms. Inspired by African musical traditions, the album sequentially orders its tracks by increasingly complex time signatures and features the commercially successful 'Unsquare Dance'.
