Album Notes & Community Reviews
Featuring an incredibly young Chick Corea on piano, 'Bossa Nova Carnival' is a vibrant, rhythmically complex take on the Brazilian craze. Vibraphonist Dave Pike largely avoids the melancholic, whispered quality of early Bossa Nova, instead infusing the syncopated rhythms with the aggressive, bluesy swagger of American soul jazz. It stands out as one of the more energetic and improvisational Latin jazz dates of the period.
