Biography
American vibraphonist Dave Pike (1938 to 2015) began with *Paul Bley* and *Herbie Mann* before leading his own groups through bossa nova, Latin jazz and soul jazz in the 1960s. His most exploratory work came in Europe with the Dave Pike Set, whose #MPS# albums between 1969 and 1972 fused funky grooves, psychedelia and free improvisation. Pike remained a consistent, if underrated, leader on vibraphone and marimba for four decades.
