Album Notes & Community Reviews

Exploring the absolute resonant depths of the solo cello, David Darling delivers a profoundly somber, highly meditative album for the ECM label. 'Dark Wood' utilizes deep, sustained bowing and subtle electronic looping to create incredibly spacious, mournful acoustic environments devoid of standard tempo. It is heavily celebrated as a masterpiece of modern minimalist composition, perfect for deeply solitary listening.
