Album Notes & Community Reviews

The renowned klezmer clarinetist contributes his unique vision to John Zorn's massive 'Book of Angels' composition series. Joined by a remarkably funky, jazz-rock oriented backing band, Krakauer radically reinterprets Zorn's complex, Jewish-inspired melodies through blistering improvisational solos and heavy, driving electric bass lines. The album functions as a staggeringly virtuosic, highly energetic collision of traditional Eastern European folk scales and modern experimental jazz fusion.
