Album Notes & Community Reviews
Leading his celebrated octet, the tenor saxophonist bridges the gap between structured swing orchestration and fiery avant-garde expression. 'New Life' highlights complex, blues-drenched arrangements anchored by Murray's robust, deeply emotive soloing. It remains a critically acclaimed high-water mark for modern big band composition on the prestigious Black Saint label.
