Crippling Lack

Released as a sprawling three-volume opus on three different labels, 'Crippling Lack' is an ambitious work of experimental folk and art rock. The album's foundation was built from songs recorded in single takes, juxtaposing Broughton's distinct, morose vocal delivery and sparse acoustic guitar with layered, atmospheric overdubs from a host of remote collaborators. The musical journey moves from deceptively approachable folk arrangements into long-form, disintegrating song structures and back, exploring themes of futility and nature with an unsettling yet compelling character.
