Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard returned with a highly ritualistic, two-act conceptual project exploring the myth and enduring spirit of the Greek god of wine and ecstasy. Incorporating an immense array of traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern folk instruments alongside field recordings, the album completely eschews typical song structures for flowing, tribal-ambient movements. It serves as a hypnotic, heavily researched celebration of ancient European paganism.
