Album Notes & Community Reviews
Serving as the band's first album entirely written and recorded following the departure of founding member and producer Chris Walla, the Seattle indie rock staples deliver a highly polished, nostalgic record. Ben Gibbard reflects heavily on the gentrification of his home city and the anxieties of entering his forties across bright, synthesizer-tinged indie-pop arrangements. The transition marked a noticeably slicker, more mainstream-oriented era for the veteran group.
