Building heavily on the gore-obsessed blueprint of their debut, 'Leprosy' refined the death metal formula with drastically improved production, increasingly technical musicianship, and deeply pessimistic lyrical themes. Chuck Schuldiner's pioneering guttural vocals and precise, razor-sharp riffing became the unquestionable gold standard for extreme metal moving forward.
