private music

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Reuniting with producer Nick Raskulinecz, 'private music' is defined by a blend of atmospheric shoegaze and potent alternative metal, continuing the band's balance of aggression and beauty. The album marks the studio debut of bassist Fred Sablan and features a significant creative shift, with vocalist Chino Moreno handling most guitar parts due to guitarist Stephen Carpenter's health issues during recording. Acclaimed by critics, the record is noted for its dynamic sonic textures, from ethereal passages to rhythmically complex, heavy arrangements that recall the band's earlier work.
