Album Notes & Community Reviews

Fronting a superb quartet, the renowned Texas tenor saxophonist crafted an essential statement balancing muscular, blues-inflected post-bop with outside avant-garde exploration. Benefitting from ECM Records' famously pristine studio acoustics, the deeply focused interplay between Redman and pianist Charles Eubanks is beautifully documented. The recording highlights Redman's powerful, distinctly vocalized tone outside of his famous tenure with Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett.
