Album Notes & Community Reviews

Pivoting rapidly from oceanic imagery to the Southern California drag racing craze, the 'King of the Surf Guitar' utilizes his signature staccato picking to simulate the roar of powerful engines. The album seamlessly integrates vocal tracks into his notoriously loud, amplifier-busting instrumental repertoire. 'Checkered Flag' demonstrates the aggressive, fast-paced commercial evolution of early 1960s youth culture themes.
