Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut studio album from the highly influential Norwegian extreme metal act showcases a remarkably raw, deeply melancholic approach to the burgeoning symphonic black metal sound. Featuring Shagrath handling drum and vocal duties alongside Silenoz on rhythm guitar and vocals, the deeply atmospheric compositions rely heavily on sweeping, primitive keyboard melodies and sorrowful acoustic interludes. It remains an essential, deeply romantic early document of the 1990s Scandinavian underground.
