Album Notes & Community Reviews

Inspired by a historically significant, US State Department-sponsored tour of the Mediterranean and Middle East, the bebop pioneer leads a wildly powerful, culturally curious big band. The incredibly dense, polyrhythmic arrangements incorporate subtle Eastern European motifs into fiercely aggressive, hard-swinging brass charts. The visionary project brilliantly documents his effort to bridge international diplomacy with sophisticated, high-octane modern jazz.
