Album Notes & Community Reviews

Composed and arranged by Lalo Schifrin, 'Free Ride' places bebop pioneer Dizzy Gillespie firmly in the center of slick, cinematic jazz-funk. The production heavily embraces the dance floor, surrounding Gillespie's unmistakable muted trumpet with sweeping strings, tight funk basslines, and subtle disco rhythms. It stands as a deeply playful, energetic late-career reinvention for the jazz legend.
