Album Notes & Community Reviews
Always at the vanguard of Latin jazz fusion, bebop pioneer Dizzy Gillespie enthusiastically embraces the bossa nova craze with 'New Wave!'. Featuring phenomenal arrangements and piano work by an emerging Lalo Schifrin, the album seamlessly integrates complex Afro-Cuban and Brazilian polyrhythms with Gillespie's lightning-fast trumpet improvisations. It is a highly energetic, incredibly joyous cross-cultural celebration.
