Album Notes & Community Reviews

Originally recorded in South Africa and released internationally as 'Cape Town Fringe', this session by pianist Dollar Brand (Abdullah Ibrahim) is a cornerstone of Cape Jazz. The music brilliantly fuses rolling, gospel-inflected chord structures with traditional African rhythms and avant-garde improvisational freedom. It acts as a vibrant cultural and musical statement from the apartheid era.
