Album Notes & Community Reviews
Onete recorded 'Banzeiro', named for the waves thrown up by boats on the Amazon, in her late seventies, topping the European world music charts with songs in the carimb贸 chamegado style she devised herself. A former history teacher and union campaigner from Par谩, she had made her debut album only five years earlier, at seventy-three.
