Down by the Jetty
by Dr. Feelgood
'Down by the Jetty' captures the raw, back-to-basics energy of the mid-1970s pub rock scene through its aggressive, stripped-down rhythm and blues. Produced by Vic Maile and unconventionally issued in mono, the album showcases Wilko Johnson’s influential, choppy fingerstyle guitar work alongside Lee Brilleaux's forceful vocals on a mix of originals and R&B covers. The record’s unpolished, high-energy sound proved to be a significant catalyst for the subsequent punk movements in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
