Album Notes & Community Reviews
Transglobal Underground co-founder Nick Page, working as Dubulah, recorded 'A Town Called Addis' in a makeshift Addis Ababa studio with singers Sintayehu 'Mimi' Zenebe and Tsedenia Gebremarkos, messenqo player Teremage Woretaw, saxophonist Feleke Hailu and keyboardist Samuel Yirga. The thirteen tracks fuse Azmari tradition, Ethio-jazz and 1960s Ethiopian pop with 1970s Jamaican dub. It was the project's debut for Peter Gabriel's Real World label.
