Album Notes & Community Reviews
Revolutionizing the New York Latin music scene, Eddie Palmieri's masterpiece fundamentally expanded the structural possibilities of Afro-Cuban dance music. The album famously features the extended, eight-minute epic 'Az煤car', prioritizing blistering, jazz-influenced piano and trombone improvisations over standard radio formats. This aggressive, highly percussive 'trombanga' sound essentially laid the foundational blueprint for the 1970s salsa explosion.
