Up From Below cover art

Spearheaded by Alex Ebert under his messianic alter-ego, the ten-piece indie-folk collective's debut is a joyous, messy explosion of 1960s hippie aesthetics. Fueled by the massive viral success of the whistling duet 'Home', the record relies on group singalongs, brass sections, and a deliberately ramshackle, communal recording style. It effectively defined the cheerful, festival-friendly 'stomp and holler' movement of the early 2010s.
