Einstürzende Neubauten’s 1985 album *½ Mensch* marks a pivotal evolution, refining their industrial-noise assault into a work of harrowing, ritualistic theater. The production balances brutalist percussion—forged from scrap metal and power tools—with stark, atmospheric spaces. Blixa Bargeld’s vocals shift from guttural shrieks to the iconic, polyphonic chant of the title track, exploring themes of corporeal existence and the fractured self.
