Jeff Lynne steered ELO away from traditional orchestral rock into an incredibly lush, synthesizer-heavy homage to the burgeoning 1980s new wave sound. 'Time' is a brilliant, highly melodic science-fiction concept album about a man transported to the year 2095, saturated in beautifully bittersweet, futuristic themes of space-age longing and deep alienation.
