Album Notes & Community Reviews

Launching the career of one of Brazil's most resilient and iconic vocalists, this debut fuses traditional rhythms with the punchy horn arrangements of American big band jazz. Her raspy, syncopated scat-singing revolutionized the samba aesthetic, offering an energetic, street-level counterpoint to the polite sophistication of the emerging bossa nova movement.
