Album Notes & Community Reviews

The renowned American composer and clarinetist presents a stunning, highly complex fusion of Western avant-garde structures and traditional Balinese instrumentation. 'Amok! / Tire Fire' features Ziporyn's blistering woodwind performances interacting with the incredibly fast, highly syncopated metallic percussion of the Gamelan Galak Tika ensemble. The album represents a masterful, dizzying achievement in cross-cultural contemporary composition and microtonal exploration.
