Album Notes & Community Reviews

Following the departure of Richard Thompson, the British folk-rock pioneers delivered an incredibly ambitious, entirely acoustic-leaning folk-opera. The continuous conceptual narrative recounts the true story of John Babbacombe Lee, an alleged murderer who famously survived three separate hanging attempts in the late 19th century. Spearheaded by Dave Swarbrick, it is a uniquely structured, deeply historic masterpiece of English folk storytelling.
