Short Bus

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Filter's debut, 'Short Bus', forged a link between industrial ice and grunge heat, establishing a sound defined by the dual contributions of Richard Patrick and Brian Liesegang. The album juxtaposes punishing, distorted guitar riffs and mechanical drum machine loops with strong, accessible melodic hooks and Patrick's signature screams. Recorded largely in a rented house, its raw, aggressive production and lyrical focus on subjects like suicide cemented its place as a touchstone of mid-90s alternative rock.
