After exploring lush, live-band jazz structures on his previous record, Sam Shepherd returns to complex, hardware-driven electronic music. Recorded remarkably quickly over five weeks utilizing primarily a Buchla synthesizer and an old drum machine, the album is a dense, glitch-heavy masterclass in IDM. It balances frantic, aggressive club rhythms with breathtakingly gorgeous orchestral ambient textures.
