Biography
Floating Points is the recording name of British producer, composer, and musician Sam Shepherd. A neuroscientist by training, Shepherd creates intellectually deep and emotionally resonant music that blurs the lines between electronic, jazz, and modern classical. His 2015 debut album, 'Elaenia', released on his own #Pluto# label, was a critical breakthrough, celebrated for its intricate compositions. This was followed by the more electronic-focused 'Crush' in 2019 on #Ninja Tune#. In 2021, his universally acclaimed collaboration with jazz legend *Pharoah Sanders* and the *London Symphony Orchestra*, 'Promises', was released on #Luaka Bop#, cementing his status as a visionary artist bridging genres and generations.
