The Curse of Mankind

The Norwegian ensemble continued to subvert black metal conventions by heavily incorporating melancholic post-punk elements and clean, jangly guitar tones. This highly unorthodox fusion creates a uniquely depressive, isolating atmosphere that contrasts sharply with the aggressive satanism typical of the second wave. The distinctively somber, mid-paced recordings were highly influential on the development of depressive suicidal black metal.
