Francis Bebey utilizes the traditional sanza (thumb piano) to craft an incredibly hypnotic, highly repetitive exploration of Cameroonian bikutsi rhythms. The album is stripped of all modern synthesis, relying entirely on raw, incredibly rhythmic acoustic instrumentation and passionate, mysterious vocal chants. It is a profoundly atmospheric, tropical, and masterfully unadorned showcase of traditional African musicianship.
