Church Number Nine

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded live in France during a period of prolific European exile for many American avant-garde musicians, this blistering session captures the quartet at their most explosive and uncompromising. Driven by Wright's fiercely overblown tenor saxophone and intensely chaotic, polyrhythmic drumming, the performance is a monumental, spiritually charged excursion into high-energy free jazz.
