Album Notes & Community Reviews
Captured relatively late in his life, 'Long Way From Home' provides a pristine recording of Mississippi Fred McDowell's deeply hypnotic, rhythmic bottleneck guitar style. The sessions starkly contrast with the electric blues popular at the time, preserving the primal, driving pulse of the Hill Country tradition. His uncompromising approach deeply influenced a generation of rock musicians during the 1960s folk and blues revival.
