Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded in two separate sessions in 1965 and 1966, this dynamic album features the acclaimed trumpeter utilizing unique septet and octet configurations. The arrangements prominently feature euphonium and multiple saxophones, creating an unusually thick, orchestral texture that pushes hard-bop swinging into highly sophisticated, modal territory. It is a brilliant, compositionally ambitious highlight of his revered Blue Note tenure.
